The Energy Committee also monitors developments related to the regulators' attitude towards long-term electricity contracts. The availability of real long-term base-load contracts is vital for the sustainability of the sector’s operations on the European continent.

In this regard, the implementation of the third internal energy market package is encouraged by EUROALLIAGES’ members, who consider the long-term electricity contracts and the creation of a demand-side electricity market as being of special importance.

EUROALLIAGES' members are also paying special attention to the issue of global competitiveness of European industry. One priority of the association is to trigger the necessary steps in order to achieve a global level playing field, thus allowing a sustainable environment for Europe-based companies.
