What is REACH?

The REACH Regulation was adopted in December 2006 and entered into force on 1 June 2007.
REACH stands for Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals.

Enterprises which manufacture or import more than one tonne of a chemical substance per year are required to register this substance  in a central database administered by the EU Chemicals Agency ECHA.

The Agency provides IT tools and guidance. Helpdesks are offered by Member States to  assist the companies impacted.
